Windows XP Copy Error

We have few windows xp professional version 2002 (sp2) clients connected to a domain. When trying to copy files from local disk C: to D: we get the following error “Error copying file or folder cannot copy d: The folder is empty” We have logged into the local machine as administrator. Can you help?
Note: from a Windows 2000 professional client we can copy file between the local disk of windows xp client
